How often have you caught yourself or heard someone else say, "I can't do that"? When I hear someone say this, I generally ask them, "Why can't you do that?", and of course they usually answer with, "I don't know, I just know I can't do it".
Here's a little secret for you that I learned years ago, "I can't" means one of two things, either you don't know how or you don't want to. If you don't know how, learn how, get curious, ask questions, ask people who do know how. Go to the library and look it up, or better yet, "GOOGLE" it or seach in YOUTUBE. Dig deep enough and you will learn how. If by chance you don't want to, then you are either lacking the motivation or it doesn't stimulate you enough to want to do it.
There are two things that motivate people to either want to do something or to avoid it like the plague. Pain and pleasure, these are the two factors. Pain causes you to move away from what is causing the pain, and of course, pleasure is what moves you toward what pleases you.
For example, if money motivates you, and someone says to you, "I have something for you to do for me, it will only take an hour, can you please do it for me?". Most likely the first thing you think of is, "An hour?! A whole hour? Do you know how old I'm going to be? I don't have that kind of time to throw away! I'm sorry, I'm too busy". Now what would happen if the person said this to you? "I have something for you to do for me, it will only take an hour, could you please do it for me? I'll pay you $100.00 if you do it?" And of course they show you the money. What's the first thing you say, seeing that money really motivates you? "I can do it right now!!! In fact I will cancel whatever it was I had to do, no problem!!!"
What was the difference? The "motivation", the pain and the pleasure. Whatever it is that motivates you toward (pleasure) or away from (pain), this will determine whether or not you "can or you can't". So the next time you or anyone else says, "I can't do that", simply ask, "Is it because you don't know how, or you don't want to do it? Which is it?". You will find yourself discovering the real reason why.
